“My birdhouse and mailbox creations are a manifestation of my upbringing in an environment where entrepreneurship was the norm, freedom could be expressed, and beauty was everywhere.”

- Allen DeVellis

How Allen’s Creations Was Born

Back in 2022, Allen found a few pieces of wood in his office at work. For about 5 months, he sat and thought about what to do with these pieces of good quality oak wood. He could not come up with a project that would do this beautiful wood justice.

One day he was sitting and daydreaming about how much he loves the outdoors, and it clicked. He decided to make a few birdhouses out of it. The next day he got to work, and this is what happened:

Our friends and family really loved what Allen had created. Shortly after was a best friend’s birthday, and he decided to make her a birdhouse. This was when the “Erin” birdhouse was created. It was the first of the classic birdhouse style.

While looking for a way to incorporate pride colors, the mailbox idea was born. This was the birdhouse:

Once everyone saw this, friends and family started asking if they could purchase one and Allen started making them to sell.

Shortly after, Allen was given the scary news that he was diagnosed with Stage 3B Melanoma and needed surgery and treatment. Going through something like that was really tough emotionally and physically. Creating the birdhouses became a type of therapy; a way to clear his head and not “think” as he likes to say. As Allen stared to create more and more styles, and word started to get out about his beautiful work. Since then, he has added mailboxes, indoor mini tabletop birdhouses, treehouse birdhouses, ornaments and magents to the collection. That is how Allen’s Creations was born.
