Artist Statement
From an early age I loved to draw and enjoyed art and the outdoors. Growing up I spent time hiking in the Appenini Mountains where my appreciation of nature was cultivated. My birdhouse and mailbox creations are a manifestation of my upbringing in an environment where entrepreneurship was the norm, freedom could be expressed, and beauty was everywhere. I was involved in manufacturing processes for much of my life so the interest and skill for putting things together was well honed by the time I came to the United States in 2016. Now, I create a timeless object of beauty with traditional woodworking that reflects my love for nature.
I sketch out my vision for each object and improvise as I’m building. My goal is for the art to be fun and bring a smile to the viewers face, which is why my creations often contain color as a prominent feature of a composition along with fantasy and whimsy. Each object is handmade with attention to the smallest details and made with materials that will endure for generations.
